Monopoly Goes Full Star Wars Chaos This June with Heroes vs. Villains

Ubisoft is officially throwing Monopoly into hyperspace, and this time, it is not just about bankrupting your friends. Monopoly: Star Wars Heroes vs. Villains is shaping up to be a far more chaotic, team-driven take on the classic board game, launching June 11 across consoles, PC and cloud.

At first glance, it still looks like Monopoly. You roll dice, move around a board and fight over property. But this version swaps quiet capitalism for full-on galactic conflict.

Set on a custom board filled with iconic Star Wars locations, the game leans heavily into spectacle, layering cinematic moments and dynamic gameplay events atop the familiar formula.

The biggest shift comes from how you play. Instead of going solo, matches are built around 2v2 and 3v3 team battles, whether you are playing online or yelling at your friends from the same couch. And yes, teamwork actually matters here.

The roster pulls in heavy hitters like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth Vader and Darth Maul, each with their own abilities that can tilt the game in your favour or completely wreck your opponent’s plans.

That means Monopoly is no longer just about slow, inevitable domination. Properties can flip hands quickly, strategies evolve mid-match, and new GO events throw in unpredictable twists that can change everything in a single turn. It sounds less like a board game night and more like a party brawler disguised as one.

Ubisoft is keeping some details under wraps for now, but with a full reveal set for April 29, we should get a clearer look at how deep these mechanics go. If they land it right, this could be the version of Monopoly that finally ends friendships faster than Mario Party ever could.

For Star Wars fans and anyone tired of drawn-out Monopoly sessions, this might be the refresh the franchise did not know it needed.
