Singaporean artists Tabitha Nauser and Frances Lee will take on the role of Mary Magdalene in the Singapore season of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s celebrated musical Jesus Christ Superstar. The Olivier Award-winning production will play at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, from 19 August to 6 September 2026 as part of its international tour.
Nauser and Lee will join principal cast members who have appeared in previous UK, North American and Australian tours of the production, including Luke Street as Jesus, Javon King as Judas, Ethan Hardy Benson as Pilate, Grant Hodges as Caiaphas and Kodiak Thompson as Annas.
Among the international company, the casting of Nauser and Lee brings a distinct Singapore presence to the international production, with both performers contributing experience across music, theatre, television and live entertainment to one of musical theatre’s most recognised roles.
Nauser, a singer-songwriter, presenter and performer whose career spans music, television, radio and live entertainment is best known for her hit single Bulletproof. She released her debut EP, Things I Should Have Said, in 2019.
Her theatre credits include Pangdemonium’s Rent, while her live performances have taken her to major events including the Mosaic Music Festival, SHINE Festival, Music Matters Singapore and the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. With her commanding stage presence, vocal versatility and contemporary musical sensibility, Nauser brings a distinctive energy to the role of Mary Magdalene.

Frances Lee is an award-nominated performer whose theatre credits include Pangdemonium’s Kimberly Akimbo and Into the Woods, T:>Works’ Singapore International Festival of Arts commission Lush Life, Checkpoint Theatre’s Normal and The Last Bull, and WILD RICE’s Monkey Goes West and La Cage aux Folles. Her work has earned her the StyleXStyle Trailblazer Award for Best Newcomer, as well as nominations across the Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Ensemble categories.

A global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for decades, Jesus Christ Superstar is a timeless work that explores the biblical portrayal of the extraordinary events that led to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of his betrayer, Judas Iscariot.
The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles among Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, Jesus’ disciples, his followers, and the Roman Empire. Originally released as a concept album, the iconic 1970s rock score contains such well-known numbers as Superstar, I Don’t Know How to Love Him, and Gethsemane.
This production of Jesus Christ Superstar won the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival and the 2016 Evening Standard Award for Best Musical, selling out two consecutive engagements in 2016 and 2017. The production played a West End engagement at the Barbican in 2019 before returning to Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in concert version during the summer of 2020, followed by a universally acclaimed UK tour in 2023/24.
The 2026 Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar is produced by David Ian for Crossroads Live and Work Light Productions, and presented in Singapore by Base Entertainment Asia under the direction of Chantal Prudhomme. The original production was produced by London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
