Sony PlayStation State of Play 2026 Updates Not To Miss

Sony kicked off 2026 with a major State of Play broadcast on February 12, delivering more than an hour of news, trailers, and updates for PlayStation Studios titles and third-party games headed to PS5 and PC.

The showcase was packed with announcements that will excite both longtime PlayStation fans and newcomers alike, ranging from heavy-hitting remakes to fresh gameplay drops and dated releases.

One of the biggest moments came from Santa Monica Studio, which confirmed a remake of the original God of War trilogy. The news leans into the franchise’s legacy as it nears its 20th anniversary and signals Sony’s willingness to revisit classics with modern production values.

Alongside that big reveal, Sony also surprised players with an immediate launch. God of War: Sons of Sparta, a 2D action platformer developed in collaboration with Mega Cat Studios, drops today on PS5 and reimagines Kratos’ early years with tight, retro-inspired combat.

Fighting game fans won’t be left waiting either. MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, the comic-book crossover fighter, now has a firm release date of August 6, 2026, with pre-orders having opened on February 19.

For players craving new gameplay, Sony offered a fresh look at SAROS, an action-heavy PS5 title blending bullet-hell, third-person shooting, and roguelike elements. The game is slated to launch on April 30 following its deep-dive reveal.

Fans of cooperative play will get something too. Ghost of Yōtei Legends, the multiplayer co-op expansion for Ghost of Yōtei, arrives as a free update on March 10, expanding the supernatural combat landscape introduced in the base title.

On the shooter front, Marathon from Bungie is set to launch March 6 with pre-release access via a community-wide “Server Slam” event from February 27 to March 3, letting players try select content early.

PC players aren’t forgotten either. Hideo Kojima’s acclaimed DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH is making the jump from PS5 to PC, with a March 19 launch date confirmed.

Sony also treated players to the first look at Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the long-awaited sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits, which is set to launch on both PS5 and PC in 2026, promising to build on the original’s story-driven adventure and visual charm.

Finally, the action extends to 4:Loop, a four-player co-op shooter from Bad Robot Games that received a gameplay deep dive during the broadcast. The title is confirmed for both PS5 and PC, though a precise release window has yet to be set.

From legacy franchises to ambitious new IPs, Sony’s first State of Play of the year showcased a diverse slate that underscores the PS5’s continued momentum.
