TikTok Encourages Global Community to Support Earth Hour 2020

TikTok is supporting WWF‘s Earth Hour 2020 around the world to raise awareness about environmental issues.

Since 2007, Earth Hour has grown to become the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, inspiring individuals, communities, businesses and organizations in more than 180 countries and territories to take tangible environmental action for over a decade.

As a symbolic gesture of solidarity and to unite the global community for a positive cause during this challenging time, the partnership encourages TikTok users around the world to turn off non-essential electric lights for one hour on March 28 at 8:30PM local time.

The global community of TikTok users can showcase positivity and support by using a dedicated in-app #EarthHour hashtag when sharing videos on how they are being environmentally conscious and making a positive impact on the planet.

In addition, a special Earth Hour quiz will be available from March 25, testing users’ knowledge and awareness on environmental issues.

As a reward for completing the quiz, users will receive a special ‘Planet Ambassador’ certificate online.

As part of the challenge, TikTok is introducing specially customised Earth Hour stickers, which users can use in conjunction with #EarthHour.

Last year in support of Earth Hour 2019, TikTok launched #SGEarthHour2019, during which thousands of videos were created, garnering more than 1.7 million local views in total.
