In a reveal that has set the internet abuzz, Disney and Pixar have lifted the curtain on their much-awaited sequel, “Inside Out 2.” The first glimpse of this animated extravaganza, unveiled last Friday, has not just met but surpassed expectations, marking a record-breaking moment in Disney’s storied history.
The trailer, a vibrant return to the mind of a now-teenage Riley, showcases her emotions grappling with the complexities of adolescence. This captivating sneak peek attracted an astounding 157 million views within the first 24 hours, dethroning the previous record-holder, “Frozen 2” from 2019.
Pete Docter, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer, expressed his delight at the overwhelming reception. He reminisced about the original film’s success and the rich narrative potential it presented, which “Inside Out 2” aims to expand upon. Director Kelsey Mann and his team have infused the sequel with fresh dimensions, including new emotions, eagerly awaiting the audience’s discovery.
The anticipation for “Inside Out 2” was particularly palpable on TikTok, where it garnered 78 million views in just a day, coinciding with Disney’s centennial celebrations and their unique collaboration with the platform.
Adding to the excitement is the introduction of a new emotion, Anxiety, portrayed by Maya Hawke. This endearing and relatable character joins the beloved ensemble of Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust.
