Amazon Gets Its Game on with Amazon Luna

The worldwide web-spanning giant sets its sights on gaming

Apparently, someone mentioned to Jeff Bezos that he wasn’t already enough of a multimedia mogul. So, naturally, meet Amazon Luna!

A cloud gaming service (’cause, why not?) Amazon Luna is being touted as a means to “play games on devices you already own” while not having to wait “for lengthy downloads or updates.”

A gamer’s dream for sure.

We created Luna to make it easy to play great games on the devices customers already own and love. It’s Day One for Luna—we are excited to work with gamers, streamers, and publishers like Ubisoft and Remedy Entertainment to build a great gaming experience for everyone.

– Marc Whitten, Vice President, Amazon Entertainment Devices and Services

While the Amazon Luna is only available in the United States for now, the service clearly has bigger plans within your handheld controller’s reach–namely, the Luna Controller. While Luna is compatible with an Xbox One, or DualShock 4 controller, or even a mouse and keyboard, the Luna Controller brings its own set of use.

Furthermore, it supports Bluetooth and USB for offline play on many devices. However, the Luna Controller is not licensed for play on game consoles.. yet.

And if this wasn’t a big enough wave of content, there’s also Luna+: game channel offering a growing library of new and favourite titles. Set up Luna profiles to play on two devices at the same time at up to 1080p/60fps, with 4K coming soon for select titles.

And if you’re looking forward to some more familiar names, there’s also the Ubisoft Channel, a game channel containing fresh features and classic titles from Ubisoft, including ultimate edition versions for select titles. The Ubisoft channel will provide you access to play on one device at up to 4k resolution for select titles.

Ubisoft’s channel on Luna will allow players to experience our new releases along with many of our catalog games, while enjoying player-friendly features like Alexa and Twitch integrations.
