Planning a kitchen involves more than choosing cabinet colours and finding a spot for the coffee machine. Appliance dimensions, piping and installation schedules all need to work together. IKEA Singapore’s latest partnership aims to bring those decisions into the same conversation earlier.
The furniture retailer has teamed up with Life by City Energy, the home solutions arm of Singapore’s town gas provider, to expand its Home Design Service. Available at IKEA Alexandra and IKEA Tampines, the collaboration brings gas appliance selection and specialist installation support into the home planning process.
Homeowners furnishing a new BTO flat, renovating an existing property or refreshing their kitchen can now consider Life by City Energy’s hobs, cooker hoods, gas water heaters and dryers alongside IKEA’s advice on layouts, cabinetry, storage, lighting and interiors.
Life by City Energy is the first partner to expand IKEA Singapore’s end-to-end Home Design Service, which has helped 300 homeowners plan, furnish and complete their spaces since its soft launch in 2025.
The IKEA Home Design specialist remains the homeowner’s single point of contact. When gas appliances are selected, the specialist coordinates with Life by City Energy’s experts to incorporate appliance dimensions, placement and gas-piping requirements into the plans before renovation begins.
The teams then coordinate appliance delivery, cabinet installation, gas works and gas activation, arranging site visits and technical checks where needed. The aim is to reduce mismatched specifications, installation delays and avoidable rework, while giving homeowners fewer separate arrangements to manage.
For homeowners, the practical benefit is being able to discuss how appliances fit into a space before the cabinetry is finalised. A preferred hob or water heater becomes part of the design brief early enough for the relevant teams to account for its requirements.

IKEA Singapore Commercial Manager Steve Croasdale said the partnership allows customers to bring gas appliances and their installation requirements into the design conversation earlier, helping more of the home to be planned together from the start.
City Energy’s Senior Vice President of Residential Sales, Soh Guan Hong, highlighted the role of town gas beyond cooking. According to the company’s 2026 data, approximately half of HDB homes using town gas also use gas water heaters. He added that the partnership brings its focus on smarter, IoT-enabled gas solutions into the home design process.
