Following the successful launch of a comic book adventure at 2025’s Singapore Comic Convention, Special Response Genforcer is primed to debut in its intended format: live action!
Helmed by production industry veteran Basil Yeo, co-founder of Playbox Studios and co-creator of Genforcer, the team plans to raise funds via the popular crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, with a campaign beginning on 15th September 2026.
With a script and direction from Yeo, the Genforcer pilot will see talents from across different media disciplines come together to bring this effort to life. Co-creators Syafiq Mohamad and Danial Syafiq have brought their modelling and design skills to the project, shaping the universe.
The in-house team at Playbox Studios will oversee the end-to-end production of the pilot, in collaboration with external talent for both on- and off-screen functions.
Seeking to strike a balance between the larger-than-life reality found in tokusatsu projects, as well as the grounded setting of a Singapore that local audiences can relate to, the team at Playbox Studios has spent half a decade researching, designing, and redesigning the look and feel of the characters and their environments.
Characters whose suits have long been filled by a dedicated group of actors who’ve donned the gear for community-driven events, bringing this dream to children and members of the public with unique and interesting on-the-ground interactions.

Aiming for a funding goal of $25’000, the creative team has lined up an immersive array of rewards and tokens for backers of their Kickstarter campaign, structured across a range of pledge tiers, each thematically branded after the fictional ranking structure of the in-universe organisation.
