This year, STGCC 2016 will feature 43 pop culture personalities including comic creators such as Emma Rios and Hwei Lim and Nick Spencer who unveiled Cap as an Agent of Hydra!
Nick Spencer, a New York Times best-selling, Eisner award-nominated comic book writer, based in Los Angeles, has worked for Image, Marvel, and DC Comics. His long-running creator owned series with Joe Eisma, Morning Glories, just celebrated his fiftieth issue. His new creator-owned series with Steve Lieber, The Fix, has launched to multiple sellouts and critical acclaim. At Marvel, he currently writes both Steve Rogers: Captain America and Sam Wilson: Captain America, as well as The Astonishing Ant-Man.
Recently, Nick Spencer ‘broke the internet’ when he unveiled Marvel Comics icon, Captain America, as an agent of the very organisation he was supposed to stand against – HYDRA! The move sparked worldwide outrage and spawned several critical opinions and internet memes.
We speak to Nick on Captain America, writing and creating comics, and sphere of influence between cinematic universes and the comic medium.
Nick will be in Singapore for Singapore Toys, Games and Comics Convention 2016 (STGCC) from 10-11 September.
