MTV Movie Awards 2015 Recognises Genius

“I love Kevin Hart’s career plan: do everything Martin Lawrence did, only shittier.”

Well, Justin… MTV and Jimmy Kimmel would beg to differ.

MTV has announced that comedian and actor Kevin Hart will be presented with the Comedic Genius Award at the MTV Movie Awards 2015 by Jimmy Kimmel himself.

Hot off his latest movie Get Hard, Hart might be more of the new Chris Tucker than Martin Lawrence… after all, we’re only four months into 2015 and he’s already had two buddy-themed movies. Most fittingly, the Comedic Genius Award was first presented to Hart’s Get Hard co-star, Will Ferrel, in 2013.

The award will honour Hart for his bold and irreverent comedic style that has captivated audiences from his movies and sitcoms, to live stand-up specials. Having made his comedic debut during an amateur night at a Philadelphia comedy club, Hart broke records set by Eddie Murphy, during his Laugh At My Pain comedy tour in 2011.

Fans however, will have far more to look forward to at this year’s MTV Movie Awards as the first award of the night, Best Hero, will be a socially-voted category putting fans in charge of choosing the winner. Nominees in this category will be revealed and voting will begin on Thursday, 2 April.

With a red carpet pre-show hosted by the trendsetting Jessie J and the awards show itself emceed by stand-up comedienne Amy Schumer, the MTV Movie Awards 2015 will air on the 13th of April at 7am (TH/WIB), 8am (PH/SG) and 9am (MY).
