Reality Dance Show Flips Into Singapore

Dance Singapore Dance, Zee TV’s first reality dance competition in Singapore, is ready to catapult local dancers into fame by providing them with a platform to showcase their talent on international television. The winner of the competition stands to win a grand prize of SGD $10,000 cash.

Dance Singapore Dance is a localised version of the popular Dance India Dance series which made its debut in 2009. Since then, the show has seen about 90,000 participants over its past four editions. Winners from past editions of the competition have catapulted to fame with many of them gaining film experience and sponsorships after the show.

Dancers on the show come from different backgrounds and cultures, and represent different genres, from Bollywood to contemporary to classical dance.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, 14 March 2015 and only the top 25 – 30 shortlisted dancers will be invited to perform on Audition Day 2. On the second day of auditions, the top 12 participants will be selected as finalists.

The top 12 finalists will be mentored and trained by choreographers Sneha Yadav, Anil Dandge and Roche Mascarenhas who will be led by the renowned Neerav Baclecha. These choreographer masters are adept at a variety of dance styles that include hip hop, jazz funk, reggae, contemporary and more.

In true reality TV tradition, the dancers will then be whittled down through a number of challenges and weekly elimination rounds until a winner is crowned. Finalists are required to commit for 1-2 weeks for filming of the show.

Dancers will be judged by Shakti Mohan, winner of Dance India Dance Season 2, and Zaini Mohammad Tahir, artistic director and choreographer of NUS Dance Ensemble. The studio episodes will also feature local guest judges who will make a special appearance each week.
