Creative Launches Sound Blaster AE-X, Bringing Audiophile-Grade Audio Back Inside the PC

Creative Technology has unveiled the Sound Blaster AE-X, a new flagship internal sound card aimed at PC enthusiasts, audiophiles, content creators and gamers looking to elevate their desktop audio experience without adding more hardware clutter to their setups.

At a time when external DACs and headphone amplifiers have become increasingly popular, Creative is taking a different approach. The Sound Blaster AE-X is designed as a fully integrated PCIe solution that sits inside the PC, offering premium audio performance while eliminating the need for additional desktop devices, cables and power supplies.

The centrepiece of the Sound Blaster AE-X is the ESS SABRE ES9039Q2M DAC, a component typically associated with high-end audio equipment. Supporting playback resolutions up to 32-bit/384kHz and delivering a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 130dB, Creative claims the card offers studio-grade audio quality directly from a desktop PC.

For headphone enthusiasts, the AE-X includes a dedicated discrete headphone amplifier designed to handle demanding high-impedance headphones. Compared to standard motherboard audio solutions, users can expect greater dynamic range, improved clarity and tighter bass response, making it suitable for everything from music listening to gaming and content creation.

The company is also introducing Creative NEXUS, a new software platform that serves as the command centre for the AE-X. Through the application, users gain access to a 10-band parametric equaliser, community-driven Auto EQ profiles for popular headphones, and extensive personalisation options designed to fine-tune the listening experience.

Creative’s long-running Sound Blaster Acoustic Engine also returns, bringing features such as Surround, Crystalizer, Bass enhancement, Smart Volume and Dialog Plus. These tools are designed to improve immersion in games and movies while also enhancing clarity during everyday media consumption.

Connectivity options include a dedicated headphone output, microphone and line input, RCA line outputs, optical input, coaxial SPDIF output and support for front-panel audio connections, making it a versatile addition to a wide range of desktop builds.

The Sound Blaster AE-X is available now in Singapore for S$269 through Creative’s online store and authorised retailers. For PC users who have invested heavily in premium headphones or high-end desktop builds, the AE-X aims to provide a cleaner and more integrated alternative to the growing collection of external DACs and amplifiers that often occupy valuable desk space.
