With both Marvel and DC throwing out trailers for almost definite blockbusters, superheroes will probably continue to be the hot topic for many in recent times. While we’ve all had a good long look at the Batmans and Supermans, and Iron Mans and Captain Americas, next year’s line-up will be more about putting the ‘god’ in ‘godly!’
While we naturally think of Thor and Wonder Woman at the mention of superheroes associated to mythology, there’re actually more to that than just them!

With yell of the word ‘SHAZAM!’ young Billy Batson transforms into a naive Superman rip-off.
Possessing the wisdom of Solomon, strength of Hercules, stamina of Atlas, power of Zeus, courage of Achilles, and speed of Mercury, Captain Marvel has all the powers of the Gods, but with a cooler outfit.
While Billy draws his powers from the Greek pantheon, his nemesis—the similarly powered Black Adam—draws his from the Egyptian gods. More importantly, he’ll be drawing his star power from Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in the upcoming “Shazam!” film adaptation!

First, let’s take a moment to forget the depressing CW adaption of these two legendary characters.
While the victims of multiple origin stories, this super-powered couple have had at least one of their backstories associated to the Egyptian god Horus, qualifying them for this esteemed list. However, regardless of the source of their powers, one thing about their history remains consistent:
Egyptian Princess Chay-Ara (Hawkgirl) and her lover Prince Khufu (Hawkman) were killed by a knife forged by Nth metal. The properties of the metal and the love they had for each (awww…) caused them to reincarnate over time and seek each other out in each lifetime.
Sheez, talk about taking roleplaying in the bedroom seriously.
