Star Wars Hyperdrives Into Disney Infinity 3.0

This is the year of the Star Wars! Fans have already had quite a bit to look forward to with the Force Awakens, and Battlefront. But now, there’s more reason to celebrate as Han and friends join their Marvel buddies in Disney’s Infinity 3.0.

Disney’s Infinity 3.0 will introduce three Star Wars play sets – Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic which follows takes place between episode I-III, Star Wars: Rise Against the Empire takes place between episode IV-VI and Star Wars: The Force Awakens – offering distinct experiences, gameplay, environments and characters such as the Anakin and Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Master Yoda, Obi Wan, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Kanan, Ezra and more!

Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic drops first and in the Infinity 3.0 starter pack you get Anakin Skywalker and his feisty padawan Ahsoka Tano. Follow them as they Journey across the galaxy uncovering secret plots, defeat villains and bring balance to the force.

At Disney’s Infinity 3.0 Edition preview event I had the opportunity to play as Anakin and Ahsoka on Geonosis. It was a very accurate representation of the world as seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

Anakin’s and the dual-wielding Ahsoka’s distinctive lightsaber fighting techniques are captured well and it is easy to notice the difference. I have to say lightsaber combat is not sloppy at all… the developers at Ninja Theory (known for Devil May Cry series) helped develop lightsaber combat and it looks good. The characters don’t simply slash, they string together a series of combo attacks and when done right, allow you to execute unique finishing moves. Not to forget you also get to use the force.

A fun feature is that you can play as any of your characters in any timeline.  Play as Vader during the Clone Wars or as Anakin in the rebel faction or see Yoda take part in a speeder pod race on Tatooine!

Master your lightsaber skills and the use of the Force in epic battles, go on adventures that take you across the galaxy in X-wings or the Millennium Falcon to fight Stormtroopers or explore different planets like Tatooine, Hoth or Endor. News of the other 2 play sets and characters will be released in the coming weeks. Looks like Star Wars is all set to kick in the hyperdrive to Infinity and beyond.

Here’s a look at some of the new (and older) Disney Infinity figures getting along… or not.
