There’s No Such Thing As A Quiet Year For Star Wars

Disney Investor Day Unveils a Whole New Galaxy for Star Wars

The Bad Batch

Spinning out of the final season of The Clone Wars, this animated series’ll follow the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone Wars.

Members of the Bad Batch each possess a singular exceptional skill which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew. In the post-Clone Wars era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose.

Visions

Long-time fans will remember the iconic Star Wars: Visionaries graphic novel by Dark Horse from 2005. Featuring a collection of stories not necessarily within the confines of continuity (then) written and drawn by concept artists who worked on Revenge of the Sith, these tale have since taken on new life as they’ve come to inspire the many newer tales in the galaxy far, far away.

From the return ofDarth Maul (with robo-legs) to his final showdown against Obi-Wan, much of the more recent fan favourite tales in the Star Wars universe can be traced back to this one-shot graphic novel.

While Visions doesn’t necessarily seem to be following the Dark Horse anthology, it’s Animatrix-styled approach does create the possibility of some long forgotten concepts seeing the light of television.

Featuring all-new, creative takes on the galaxy far, far away, this series of animated short films will celebrate Star Wars through the lens of the world’s best anime creators. The collection will bring 10 fantastic visions from several of the leading Japanese anime studios, offering a fresh and diverse cultural perspective to Star Wars.

And with the Marvel end of Disney+ going all brave and bold with their What If…?, it is possible that Visions may be a window to alternate worlds.

Obi-Wan

The Ewan McGregor-starring series has been long-awaited, with fan anticipation preceding any official announcements even. And while 2020 has thrown some sand on the production, it’s been with much relief that the series is now back on track.

And if that wasn’t enough fan-fuel for the masses, we’re now confirmed to witness the return of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader!

Seriously, just bring this on already!
