Holy Potatoes indeed! This game was definitely something that way exceeded my expectations; it was fun, humorous and very addictive.

Developed by Singapore-based Daylight Studios, Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! Brings a twist to management simulators with its simple design, humorous dialogue and pop culture references.

Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! swaps out your sword and shield for hammer and tongs as you take on the role of the weapon smith and merchant instead. Forge weapons for the heroes of your universe to enable them fulfill their heroic destiny.

This gave me a totally different perspective of nearly every RPG game out there and I also learnt a valuable lesson… being a weapon smith is hard work! Collecting materials, meeting deadlines, paying workers and rent! OH MY GOD RENT! It can really set a guy back in profits, especially when your Landlord can be a real Richard.

The objective of the game is very simple, forge weapons, sell them to heroes and become the most famous weapon shop in the world! The challenge is that you have to various requests and forge weapons of great quality so they get sold for top dollar. In order to do so, you have to train your workers to be excellent craftsmen, while keeping them happy too.

You’ll also get the opportunity to forge weapons for legendary heroes such as Claude Strife and Kamen Tater! (Yes, they all have very potatoey punny names) However, their expectations are high and will refuse to pay if you forge anything less than perfect. So keep forging till you get it right.

Man management is important as you move your workers around the workshop to maximize productivity and benefits. However, you might get used to the pattern after a while and it might start to become a bit to routine and easy to fly by, making it more of a no brainer over time. The difficulty scaling could be better (harder), however it can still serve as a therapeutic game after a hard day’s work.

Overall, the humorous dialogue, pop culture references and cutesy graphics make for a very fun and enjoyable game. If you’re looking for a game to help you unwind, Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! might just be the holy one’s for you! Geddit?

Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! is available on Steam for PC.
