The journey across platforms is often less than smooth and just as likely to be a success. While it can be argued that stage has had a better luck of being adapted for screen than the other way around, Paw Patrol seems to have maintained its charm across media.
Debuting in 2013, Paw Patrol has been followed by both a growing up original audience over the last 11 years and newer audiences who’re witnessing an entirely different iteration of the characters. Nevertheless, PAW Patrol Live! The Great Pirate Adventure successfully captures the whole audience regardless of the 11-year span between the generations.
The performance remains engaging to audience members across the spectrum (yes, including those of us well into our 30s) by keeping much of the characters and content familiar to viewers old and new. Even the central plot mostly features characters from the original run of the series save.
Mayor Goodway is getting everything shipshape for a big Pirate Day celebration in Adventure Bay. When Cap’n Turbot falls into a dark and mysterious cavern, it’s PAW Patrol to the rescue!
Chase, Marshall, Rubble, Skye, Rocky and Zuma save Cap’nTurbot and discover a secret pirate treasure map that leads them on an epic adventure. Things get ruff when MayorHumdinger wants to find the treasure first for Foggy Bottom. The pups need all paws on deck for this pirate adventure. Using their heroic rescue skills, problem solving and teamwork, the pups set sail to save the day. No job is too big, no pirate pup is too small!
Despite the limitations of a live performance, the Paw Patrol crew go all out bringing Ryder and the pups to live–on the open seas no less! But the real hook is the interactive nature of the ~90-minute experience, constantly keeping the audiences engaged regardless of age or extent of familiarity with the brand.
If nothing else, this live show of Paw Patrol is proof of the brand’s longevity and adaptability.
PAW Patrol Live! The Great Pirate Adventure will run until Sunday, the 15th of December only at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands! Tickets can be purchased online here.
