Nothing Unveils New Smartphone “Phone (2a)”

London-based tech innovator Nothing has officially confirmed the name of its latest smartphone offering, the Phone (2a), through its recent quarterly Community Update. This announcement marks a new chapter in Nothing’s journey of technological advancement and product innovation.

2023 was a year of strategic expansion for Nothing, with the company enhancing its engineering capabilities across its seven global offices. This expansion paved the way for the launch of two second-generation products, showcasing Nothing’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology.

The newly unveiled Phone (2a), affectionately codenamed Aerodactyl, is a testament to Nothing’s dedication to refining the daily smartphone experience. By focusing on core user needs, Phone (2a) embodies all of Nothing’s expertise and craftsmanship, ensuring it stands out not only by retaining the most cherished features of its predecessor, the Phone (2), but also by offering substantial upgrades from the Phone (1).

In an exciting development for developers and users alike, Nothing also introduced the Glyph Developer Kit alongside the Phone (2a). This innovative kit opens up new possibilities for third-party Android apps by enabling them to integrate with the unique Glyph Interface, a distinctive feature of Nothing smartphones.

Adding to the flurry of updates, Nothing announced the appointment of Jillian Gerngross as the new Vice President of Marketing. Bringing over a decade of experience from her tenure at Amazon Music, Gerngross is set to steer Nothing’s global marketing strategy, with a particular focus on the launches of Nothing phones and new audio products. Her leadership is expected to inject even more excitement into the audio category.

The Community Update further included a comprehensive State of Business Update from CFO Tim Holbrow and insights from the latest Nothing Board Meeting, with contributions from Rohit Pakalapati, the newly-elected Community Board Observer.

Beyond the core announcements, Nothing’s CMF division teased the upcoming launch of CMF Buds and CMF Neckband Pro, expanding its portfolio and hinting at the company’s continued innovation in the tech space.
