Marvel Unleashes at Free Comic Book Day 2015

Free Comic Book Day is a sacred date on the calendar for many of us comic fans. Not only do we get free comics, our favourite comic stores also have insane sales and offers to keep us happy. But one of the best things may be how, in recent years, comic publishers have begun to use Free Comic Book Day as an opportunity to market their latest big titles and events.

With the announcement of the mysterious but epicly-proportioned Secret Wars, Marvel’s got a lot to do to impress fans. Especially since there seems to be dozens of tie-in issues that’ll either affect the main story or embellish on some of the finer details.

And this year, on the 2nd of May, Marvel’s pulling all stops. With not only one free comic, but with multiple issues—each containing more than one story.

“Free Comic Book Day is a day to showcase the amazing world of comic books we all live and play in,” says Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel. “What a spectacular opportunity to reach new fans as FCBD coincides with the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. There’s no better time for fans to jump in to the Marvel comics universe with new titles featuring the Avengers, the Inhumans and Secret Wars. Support your local retailers and head to a comic shop that weekend for some stellar offerings from all-star creators. We can’t wait for fans to get their hands on them.”
