Geek Out Sessions Ep1: The NEW Thor is a Woman

Marvel Comics announced that a BIG change will be storming your way in October 2014. Thor, the God of Thunder, will be no longer worthy to carry his enchanted hammer, Mjölnir.

In one of the most shocking, exciting and probably controversial changes ever made in the mainstream Marvel Universe a New Thor will rise and SHE will be worthy. It’s not the first tme that Marvel has really experimented with their heroes – maybe in an effort to be more inclusive (maybe? I dunno). Has it always worked? Well not always but it has

We’ve seen some concept art, but Marvel’s been tight lipped on who it’s going to be.

“The inscription on Thor’s hammer reads ‘Whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.’ Well it’s time to update that inscription,” says Marvel editor Wil Moss. “The new Thor continues Marvel’s proud tradition of strong female characters like Captain Marvel, Storm, Black Widow and more. And this new Thor isn’t a temporary female substitute – she’s now the one and only Thor, and she is worthy!”

What do you think of this move? Who do you think is worthy to carry Mjolnir? Who’d you want to see pick up the mantle (and hammer) of the thunder God? We discuss this and more in the first episode of the Geek Out Sessions.
