Dinner in the Sky

Dinner in the Sky Malaysia – An Experience That Gets You High, Literally

While I would normally love to have dinner (or any meal for that matter) with my feet planted firmly on the ground, I just couldn’t pass the opportunity to have Dinner in the Sky in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

The first of its kind in South East Asia, Dinner In The Sky Malaysia made its inaugural debut on 1st August 2015 at the KL Tower followed by Penang on 25th February 2016. The Belgian novelty service has hosted over 5,000 dinner events around the world including iconic locations such as The Las Vegas Strip, the gardens of the King David Hotel, the Marina of Dubai, the hills of the Villa Borghese in Rome, the banks of the St. Lawrence River, the beach of Copacabana, Brazil and Cape Town Bay.

Now in Johor’s Puteri Harbour, diners will be hoisted 40 meters in the air to take their meal complete with a spectacular view of the Straits of Johor, sunset as well as the chic Marina, while strapped into racing seats – which were surprisingly quite comfortable.

The cuisine, served by Tosca Trattoria Italiana of DoubleTree (Hilton Johor Bahru), was a pretty delicious affair with good portions and and a great blend of tastes – especially the tender wagyu beef. However, if you’re a fan of piping hot food, you’re unlikely to get any as most of the food is pre-prepared and then brought up with you. It still tastes good though.

Here’s a short video of the experience, as well as views from Singapore celebrity chef Justin Quek and the reigning Ms Universe Malaysia, Ms Kiran Jassal.

If you’re a foodie, or just like to try something new, having Dinner in the Sky is a truly unique experience where you can either sit back and relax and soak in the vibes of being up high, or treat it as something a little more adventurous and dangle your feet a little and sneak a glance at the ground between every couple of bites.

Puteri Harbour is located 10 minutes from LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, 30 minutes from Senai International Airport or 55 minutes from Singapore’s Changi Airport and accessible from Indonesia via a 90-minute ferry ride from Tanjung Balai and 2-hour ferry ride from Batam.

Dinner In The Sky is priced at RM599 per person (and RM699 per person on weekends) which includes a 4-course dinner. Reservations can be made from 16th April 2016 onwards. For further information on the booking procedures, please go to www.dinnerinthesky.my
