Cafe Iguana – Probabaly the Best Margaritas in Singapore

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Café Iguana, located at Riverside Point (just across the river from Clarke Quay), has been serving craving-inducing Mexican food and a great margarita at fantastic happy hour prices for more than a decade.

The ambiance is very nice and relaxed. You can choose between sitting inside on the high chairs where it can get a little dark – but I’m not complaining… I prefer it – or outside along the walkway where you can just relax and watch as people walk by. I really like the way they’ve set up the place. It gives you a very nice feel with the wooden decor and all the bottles racked up at the bar counter.

Once you’ve decided where you’re going to park yourself, dive into the menu and you’ll find a variety of Mexican-inspired food and drink. Now, while I can’t talk about the authenticity of the fare – I can say that it’s simply fabulous. Especially the Beef Chimichangas which I just can’t get enough of. If I had 10 cents for every time I craved for one of those Chimis’…. I could buy 2!….oooh and the cravings begin.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a greater variety of Tequila and Mezcals in Singapore. When it comes to drink, more often than not you’ll find poor clones of Latin favourites such as Margaritas, Mojitos and Caipirinhias at most places. However, at Cafe Iguana event the house Margarita – made from 100% Blue Agave – is simply amazing (especially the Lime on the rocks – never been a fan of the frozen variety). While the premium Margaritas are definitely a step above, the house more than holds its own and does a fantastic job.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The next best thing is the pricing. Good food and drink at great prices. You’ll spend between $15 – $30 on food and House Margaritas can go as cheap as $22 (12pm to 3pm). It scales up to $59 (8pm – 11pm) and then back down again to $39 right up to closing time. Did I mention there’s free tortilla chips and salsa dip?

So far I’ve never had a problem with the service and even though things can get really busy (and it can get reeeallly busy… reservations are recommended) they always remain prompt and courteous.

Cafe Iguana… two thumbs up. A fantastic place to visit for a great Mexican food and Margaritas.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]
