British Airways officially unveiled its new lounge at Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 1, featuring the airline’s first ever Concorde Bar.
The main lounge, accessible to First and Club World business class passengers, Executive Gold and Silver members and mile earners, offers an upgraded space to work, relax or dine is decorated with artwork from established Singaporean and British artists, including Simon Wee and Dr Brendan Neiland.
Walking through the lounge is akin to walking through a furniture showroom with separate areas featuring different styles and combinations where you’re bound to find a seat for your needs – to sit and read, watch TV or to get to work. There’s also little fear of running out of power with power points aplenty.
The Concorde Bar strives to embody the finest in British design, style and art. A tasteful and secluded area exclusive to First customers, the Concorde Bar features the digital panoramic views of the Singapore skyline reflecting the time of day, to enable customers to connect to the time of day outside when travelling through time zones. If you fancy a bit of a drink, the bar also features an upgrade to the alcohol selection available at the main lounge.
Prior to the official opening, Formula 1 superstar Jenson Button was one of the first customers to enjoy the airline’s new state-of-the-art facility as he travelled through Changi Airport.
Speaking to High Life Magazine, Jenson Button (pictured on feature image) said, “I travel a lot with work so it makes a big difference to have somewhere to sit and relax when waiting for a flight, especially straight after a race.
“As the race in Singapore takes place at night, we stay on European time. It’s always a mad dash direct from the track to Changi Airport to get a late night flight to the next race so being able to chill out and have some food before getting on board definitely helps.
“Visiting a British Airways lounge is always a treat as it’s a little bit of familiarity – a sort of home away from home – and the facilities at the new lounge in Singapore are fantastic.”
Robert Williams, British Airways’ head of Asia Pacific sales, said, “Our new lounge caters to customers – like Jenson – who live life in the fast lane. It is specially-designed to be an oasis of calm and tasteful luxury, enabling travellers to work or unwind in a relaxing environment.”
