Borderlands: The Handsome Collection literally gives you more bang for your buck. Not only do you get Borderlands 2 but you also get Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel as well. Whether you’ve always wanted to be an old west style gunslinger, or an assassin on the moon, you won’t be disappointed.
In this edition of the game, you get every piece of downloadable content available giving you so much extra content that not many will be able to complete it all. My favourite addition to this franchise is the new ability to have a 4-player game played on the same screen, a feature that’s greatly missed with many other shooting games. After all, one of the best things about first person shooters is sitting next to a few friends and play the game together.
With endless types of guns available, the ability to enhance how you shoot is key. You’re given special abilities specific to each character allowing you to shape the character to what you want. My personal favourite is the Law Bringer, with the special ability to slow-mo shoot from the hip. Reminded me of being in the Wild West as seen through the eyes of the Wachowskis.
The control scheme is fantastic. With most first person shooters, dizziness is usually the end result of trying to shoot fast approaching enemies from all directions. One of the highlights in this game was the great aiming system. The camera is able to quickly adjust making it easier to shoot creatures with sporadic movements.
The only down fall of this edition to me was one of its selling in points. While most so called “Complete Editions” are just repackaged old games with a slight upgrade to HD, The Handsome Collection literally gives you all it has to offer. There’s so much extra content that there’s really no way for you to do it all.
If you’re like me, I need to do everything possible in a game, so not being able to finish every single thing possible is a real bummer. The other problem is that there’re so many extras here, that it’s sometimes hard to keep track of what you’re trying to do.
Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a place where you can not only shoot to your heart’s content, but do it with every weapon imaginable in style, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is worth a try.
